Dr. Massimo Lazzeri - Curriculum Vitae

Born in Empoli (Florence) on August 2nd 1964.

In 1982 he obtained the Publishing Journalist License with the Journalist Association of the Province of Florence.

In 1983 he graduated from the Liceo Scientifico  “Pontormo” in Empoli (Florence) with a 60/60 grade.

In 1989 he graduated from the University of Medicine and Surgery of Siena with a grade of 110/110 cum laude, discussing a thesis on “The contribution of immunoistocheemics to the histopathological definition of testicular neoplasia. Analysis of 41 cases.”

From 1986 to 1989 he attended the Urologic Operative Unit of the Santa Maria della Scala Hospital in Siena, directed by Prof. A.Acconcia, as an interning student.

In 1990 he attended the 103rd course for Officer for the Military Health Division and subsequently he was appointed as second lieutenant for the Health Group of the 6th Battalion of the Carabinieri force.

In 1994 he obtained his Postgraduate degree in Urology from the University of Florence with 70/70 cum laude with a thesis on “Evidence in vivo of a bladder-renal reflex: diuresis and natriuresis activated by stimulation of sensorial bladder fibers”.

From 1992 to 1998 he was responsible for the Urodynamic Service within the Santa Chiara in Florence.

Starting in July 1994, he is responsible for the Litotrixia Center within the Santa Chiara in Florence.

August 2004-August 2005: responsible for the Functional Urological Department and for the Extra-corporeal Litotrixia Center within the San Raffaele-Giglio di Cefalu’ Hospital in Palermo.

He is a Member of the Italian Urological Society.

He is also a Member of the Italian Urodynamics Society.

Member of the “American Urological Association.

Member of the International Continence Society.

Member of the European Urological Society and consultant for the following journals:

In 2000, he served as consultant for grant applications at St.Peter’s Trust for Kidney, Bladder and Prostate Research Institute in London.

He was also a managing director of the Italian Society of Urodynamics for the years 2001-2003 and 2004-2006, as well as Secretary for the “Basic Sciences” Section in the same period.

He was a Member of the Advisory Board within Eli-Lilly, studying the use of Duloxetina in the treatment of urinary incontinence from physical exertion in women. He’s been the National Responsible for the Training program on the abovementioned product intended for Eli-Lilly scientific representatives.

Professor at the Postgraduate Urology School at the University of “Vita e Salute” San Raffaele of Milan (2002-2005).

Consultant for the Leharman Group (a group dedicated to basic medical research).

From November 2002 to May 2005, he carried out a continuing partnership with Oklahoma University (USA) on a study project aimed at examining the metabolic and neuronal functions of the bladder urotelium, in order to survey the physio-pathological dysfunctions of the lower urinary tract.
